about
Back at the beginning of the pandemic, some songwriter friends in NYC (Bryan Dunn, David Cloyd, Lizzie Caplan and Clive Thompson of the Delorean Sisters, and myself) decided to have a contest: write the theme song for the new James Bond film, ‘No Time To Die’. A Bond-off, if you will. We submitted demos/acoustic versions of our songs and had friends vote on social media. Clive and Lizzie came out on top, but not to be deterred, I produced and recorded my version and made a video with the intention of putting it out into the world along with the release of the film back in 2020. Well, the movie got delayed and delayed due to the lockdowns, but, with ‘No Time to Die’ FINALLY coming out, I am seizing the opportunity to present my thoroughly unauthorized, totally off-brand theme for ‘No Time To Die’!
lyrics
When you said this is perfect
I knew that we were through
Any second the phone rings and drops the other shoe
You’ve grown weary of questions and I’m all out of lies
it takes a lifetime to walk away
but no time to die
Seconds turn into minutes and hours into days
everybody a witness can they see the decay?
but I can’t lose my focus
if I want to stay alive
it takes years to learn to run away
but no time to die
I still remember when you looked at me and you couldn’t believe we had finally made it
we ran for cover but our hair was grey
and the moments we made would all soon be faded
You must have known this stuff has got a way of catching up
and drawing you into another fire
it takes years and years to run away
and even longer if you stay
and all your life to learn to say goodbye
but no time to die
